June 15th - Jim Gelcer and Ewen Farncombe - Gin & Jazz

Jim Gelcer is a singing drummer performing his unique brand of jazz, r&b, and pop/soul with the who's who of Canadian jazz. He sings with “a purity of tone, a resonant vocal aesthetic and a deeply embedded rhythmic sensibility,” and has been described as sounding “like Chet Baker, with edge.” Jim is a prolific recording artist, sought after sideman, accomplished film and tv composer, and is also renowned in the world yoga community for his meditative recordings.

Ewen Farncombe is a Toronto-based Juno nominated pianist and composer. Having played on various recordings and with numerous bands, he has earned his reputation as a highly skilled musician. While attending Humber College for a degree in music performance, he received several prestigious awards, including the Hnatyshyn Foundation Oscar Peterson award. While jazz is Ewen’s passion, he is a versatile player and is known to play many genres of music.

Jim and Ewen have a unique chemistry when playing together, and listeners can expect an evening of musical delights and surprises.
