Steven Taetz is a Toronto-based singer, songwriter, and bandleader who performs jazz, swing, traditional pop, contemporary roots, and neo-soul music. His musical style has been compared to k.d lang, Harry Connick Jr., Roy Orbsion, Norah Jones, and Chet Baker, and he has performed at leading venues and festivals including Carnegie Hall, Toronto's Rogers Centre, Rochester International Jazz Festival, and the National Music Centre. His upcoming Spring 2022 album includes collaborations with Jill Barber, Barbra Lica, Caroline of Good Lovelies, Drew Jurecka, Adrean Farrugia, and many more. As part of Reid's Gin & Jazz series, Steven Taetz with Matt Newton on piano and Julian Anderson-Bowes on bass look forward to sharing holiday hits and Christmas classics.
Matt Newton is a pianist, composer and educator. He is a graduate of the University of Toronto Jazz Program and has attended the Banff International Workshop in Jazz and Creative Music where he studied with world renowned trumpeter/composer Dave Douglas, and Miles Davis’s last pianist, Deron Johnson. He has performed with such respected musicians as Kevin Turcotte, Jim Vivian, Pat Collins, Kevin Brow, Rob Mosher, Rob Frayne, Petr Cancura, Sienna Dahlen, Mike Milligan, Norman Marshall Villeneuve, and Dave Young.
Julian Anderson-Bowes is an acoustic and electric bassist, composer and improviser based in Toronto, Canada. He contributes to a wide range of musical projects from acoustic jazz to experimental pop to creating music for contemporary dance. Currently he's focused on leading his own project, Moonbliss, for which he writes original music with an emphasis on improvisation, and the use of synthesizers and electronics.
